Kybella is an FDA approved injectable used for reducing submental fullness, which is also known as a double chin. The active ingredient in Kybella is deoxycholic acid, which is a naturally occurring molecule in the body that helps break down and absorb dietary fat. The average number of treatments is typically between two and four sessions, but some people may require up to six treatments to achieve their desired results. It is important to note that the results of Kybella are gradual and may take several weeks to become noticeable.

Minimal downtime. After Kybella injections, patients can typically return to their daily activities with little to no downtime.

After receiving Kybella injections, you can expect to see gradual improvements in the appearance of your submental fullness over several weeks. Most people begin to notice a reduction in the amount of fat under their chin after 2-4 treatments, which are usually spaced about 4-6 weeks apart.

Before getting Kybella treatment, there are a few pre-treatment instructions that you should follow:

1. Inform us of any allergies, medical conditions, or medications you are currently taking.

2. Avoid taking Aspirin or other blood-thinning medications for at least 10 days before treatment, as these can increase the risk of bruising.

3. Avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours before treatment, as this can also increase the risk of bruising.

4. Avoid wearing makeup or applying any skincare products to the treatment area on the day of your appointment.

5. Avoid shaving or waxing the area to be treated for a few days before the appointment.

6. If you have an active skin infection or rash in the treatment area, postpone the treatment until it clears.

7. Arrive at your appointment with a clean face and avoid applying any lotion, cream or ointment on the treatment area.

Following these pre-treatment instructions can help minimize the risk of complications and ensure the best possible results from your Kybella treatment.

After receiving Kybella injections, it is important to follow these post-treatment instructions to ensure optimal results and minimize potential side effects:

1. Avoid touching the treated area for at least 6 hours after the treatment to avoid introducing bacteria to the injection site.

2. Burning and tingling sensation is normal even after 48-72 hours post treatment. Apply an ice pack or cold compress to the treated area for 10-15 minutes every hour for the first 24 hours to reduce swelling and discomfort.

3. Avoid strenuous physical activity, hot showers, saunas, and steam rooms for 48 hours after the treatment.

4. Avoid consuming alcohol or blood-thinning medications such as aspirin and ibuprofen for 48 hours after the treatment, as these can increase the risk of bruising.

5. Avoid applying any topical products, such as makeup or skincare, to the treated area for at least 24 hours after the treatment.

6. Avoid massaging or manipulating the treated area for at least 2 weeks after the treatment.

7. Drink plenty of water and stay hydrated after the treatment to help flush out the dissolved fat cells.

8. Can take extra strengh Tylenol for pain control and Benadryl at night post treatment for swelling.

9. Sleep with head elevated for swelling.
