Sculptra Q & A

Sculptra is a type of injectable filler developed by the Galderma Laboratories ( also produces Dysport and Restylane brands ) that is used to restore volume to the face, particularly in areas that have lost collagen due to aging. Unlike other fillers that use hyaluronic acid, Sculptra is made of a biocompatible synthetic material called poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA).

The number of vials of Sculptra needed to stimulate collagen production can vary depending on several factors, including your individual goals, the area being treated, and your body's response to the treatment. Sculptra is typically administered as a series of treatments over several months (usually 3 treatments of 1 or 2 vials, each treatment spaced 4-6 weeks)

During our FREE consultation we will evaluate your specific needs and develop a personalized treatment plan. We will assess factors such as your facial structure, the areas to be treated, and your desired outcome. Based on this assessment, we can provide a more accurate estimate of the number of vials needed BEFORE your treatment.

We also offer financing through Cherry (see Payment Plans page).

Sculptra is approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for use in cosmetic procedures. Sculptra was initially approved by the FDA in 2004 for the treatment of lipoatrophy, a condition that causes facial fat loss in people with HIV. In 2009, the FDA also approved Sculptra for cosmetic use in the treatment of facial wrinkles and folds.

Since its approval, Sculptra has become a popular option for people looking to restore volume to the face and improve the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.

When Sculptra is injected into the skin, it stimulates the body's natural collagen production. The effects of Sculptra are gradual, with most people requiring several treatment sessions spaced several weeks apart to achieve optimal results ( commonly 3 treatments 4-6 weeks apart). Our expert team at Ulala will perform a face analysis and recommend the appropriate treatment.

Most people do not require downtime after Sculptra injections, and they are generally able to resume their normal activities immediately following the procedure. However, it is common to experience some mild swelling, bruising, or redness at the injection site, which may take a few days to resolve.

Before getting Sculptra treatment, there are a few pre-treatment instructions that you should follow:

1. Avoid taking Aspirin or other blood-thinning medications for at least 10 days before treatment, as these can increase the risk of bruising.

2. Avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours before treatment, as this can also increase the risk of bruising.

3. Avoid wearing makeup or applying any skincare products to the treatment area on the day of your appointment.

4. Inform your healthcare provider of any allergies, medical conditions, or medications you are currently taking.

5. Avoid excessive sun exposure or tanning beds for at least 2 weeks before treatment, as this can increase the risk of hyperpigmentation.

6. If you have a history of cold sores, inform your healthcare provider as Sculptra can trigger a recurrence.

7. Arrive at your appointment with a clean face.

Following these pre-treatment instructions can help minimize the risk of complications and ensure the best possible results from your Sculptra treatment.

After getting Sculptra treatment, there are a few post-treatment instructions that you should follow:

1. Massage the areas 5 times a day, for 5 minutes each time, for 5 days after treatment.

2. Avoid strenuous exercise or activities that may increase blood flow to the treated area for at least 24 hours after treatment.

3. Avoid exposure to excessive heat, such as saunas or hot tubs, for at least 48 hours after treatment.

4. Avoid excessive sun exposure or tanning beds for at least 2 weeks after treatment, as this can increase the risk of hyperpigmentation.

5. Continue to moisturize and protect the treated area with sunscreen.

6. Avoid laser, IPL or skin tightening treatments of the area for at least 2-3 weeks.
