Laser hair removal works by emitting a focused beam of light that is absorbed by the pigment (melanin) in the hair follicles. The absorbed light converts into heat, damaging the follicles, and inhibiting or delaying future hair growth. The surrounding skin remains largely unaffected, making it a safe and effective method for hair reduction. Multiple sessions are typically required to achieve long-lasting result
The GentleMax Pro® system is a consolidated, dual wavelength laser platform that combines a fast and powerful 755 nm Alexandrite laser with a 1064 nm Nd:YAG laser to deliver a range of treatments. For over two decades, the Gentle Family® of devices has been a gold standard for hair removal and more, with over 10,000 lasers in use worldwide in over 86 countries.
The GentleMax Pro laser system is best known for hair removal for all skin types, providing up to 80% permanent hair reduction after three treatments. The device does not treat white, blonde or gray hairs. In addition to hair removal, the device platform can be used for the effective treatment of pigmented lesions, vascular lesions such as diffuse redness, facial veins, spider and leg veins, and beard bumps and wrinkles.
Skin may be slightly red and/or swollen immediately following the procedure, which typically lasts from a few minutes to several hours.
The GentleMax Pro laser system uses a patented Dynamic Cooling Device™ (DCD™), which provides a cooling burst of cryogen to ensure that the treatments are comfortable and the skin is consistently protected.
Patients can resume daily activities immediately after treatment. To reduce any redness or swelling after treatment, it is recommended to apply a cool compress, aloe vera and/or topical corticosteroids. Additionally, it is recommended to avoid sun exposure after treatment and apply a sunblock with SPF 30 or above.
The number of laser hair removal sessions needed varies depending on several factors, including your hair type, skin type, the area being treated, and individual response to the treatment. On average, most individuals require multiple sessions for optimal results.
Typically, a series of 6 to 8 treatments spaced 4 to 8 weeks apart is recommended to target hair follicles in different growth phases. This allows the laser to effectively treat actively growing hair during each session.
1. Minimize sun exposure and avoid tanning beds for at least 2 weeks before your scheduled treatment. Tanned skin can be more susceptible to side effects like pigmentation changes or blistering.
2. Avoid plucking, waxing, or electrolysis for at least four weeks prior to your appointment. These methods remove the hair follicle, which is the target for laser treatment. Shaving is typically allowed and may be recommended to ensure the treatment area is cleanly shaved before the session.
3. Avoid using self-tanning products or spray tans on the treatment area, as the laser may target the pigment in these products instead of the hair follicles, potentially leading to skin damage.
4. Refrain from using retinoids, AHAs, BHAs, or any other exfoliating products on the treatment area for at least one week before the session. These products can increase skin sensitivity and potentially cause adverse reactions.
5. Make sure to inform us about any medications, supplements, or topical creams you are currently using.
6. Shave the treatment area the day before or on the day of your appointment. This ensures that the laser energy is primarily absorbed by the hair follicles rather than the hair above the skin's surface.
7. On the day of your treatment, cleanse the treatment area thoroughly with mild soap and water. Avoid applying any lotions, creams, or makeup to the area.
8. Ensure that the treatment area is free from any residues, including oils, lotions, or deodorants, as they can interfere with the laser's effectiveness.
1. Protect the treated area from sun exposure for at least 2 weeks following the session. Apply broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) whenever you go outside, even if the treated area is covered.
2. If you experience any discomfort or mild swelling after the treatment, you can apply cool compresses to the area. This can help soothe the skin and reduce any temporary redness.
3. Refrain from activities that generate heat or may irritate the treated skin, such as hot showers, saunas, hot tubs, and vigorous exercise for at least 24 to 48 hours. Heat and friction can increase the risk of complications and delay the healing process.
4. Cleanse the treated area gently with mild soap and lukewarm water. Avoid scrubbing or using harsh products that may irritate the skin. Pat the area dry with a soft towel.
5. Apply a soothing and fragrance-free moisturizer to the treated area to help keep the skin hydrated and promote healing. Your provider may recommend specific products suitable for post-treatment care.
6. Do not pluck, wax, or use depilatory creams on the treated area between sessions. These methods can disrupt the hair growth cycle and interfere with the effectiveness of future treatments.
